Bolt Action: Band of Brothers starter set

I purchased the Bolt action Band of brothers starter set by Warlord Games back in the fall of 2017. True to form, having more than one project going, the Germans did not get finished until early 2018 and then the American Airborne got built, but I only painted a few. At the start of the new year I wanted to finish them all.

While there are still a lot of other projects going on – especially after receiving some epic Christmas loot – I figured could get my airborne to a functional, playable list. Since buying the starter set, I managed to get my hands on a few extra sprues, a box of US infantry, and a M4 Sherman tank through various sales.

Playable List

As I put together a list, I realized my extra sprues would not be enough, but I could add a small squad of regular infantry and some weapon teams. Having done the starter set (pretty much) as shown on the box, I needed extra riflemen.

For 750 points and 8 order dice I picked:

Painting

The Germans were the first miniature solders I painted - even before I had an airbrush - and I may have gotten a little carried away with highlighting and mixing colors, as evidenced by the list below.

Further, the bases on the airborne were built before I discovered Vallejo Earth textures, so I used (many) various sized Woodland Scenics ballasts. The Germans were done with the Army Painters Brown battleground and Battlefield Rocks.

The colors are as follows (all paints are Vallejo model color and washes are Army Painter Quickshades).

Comments

Next, I'll finish the extra unpainted figures, turning the starter set into a playable force. The long, looooong term goal will be to make a Soviet Army -- but, that will have to wait for now.

That is all for now. Until next time, adventure on! Koliada
